We agree to provide the student with a meaningful and productive workplace experience that supports the development of their practical skills and professional understanding. This includes:
While the educational program may include theoretical instruction or general information regarding large animal and equine skills, students are not permitted to undertake any practical training or assessment that involves handling of or interactions with large animals or equines as part of their placement or work-based training. This includes but is not limited to horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas, and other livestock species.
All required practical skills and assessment tasks must be completed with small companion animals (e.g., dogs, cats, rabbits), wildlife or exotics (with the exception of anything venomous), or appropriate simulated environments, as outlined by the training provider.
The hosting workplace agrees to ensure that student learning opportunities remain within the permitted species scope and to notify the training provider immediately if any uncertainty arises regarding the suitability of a task or species.
All training that involves live animals will be provided to the student as part of the animal’s normal care and treatment routines.
Animals will not be subjected to procedures, handling, or interventions solely for training purposes. All learning opportunities must occur within the context of providing appropriate care and nursing to meet the animal’s physical and emotional needs whilst maintaining their welfare.
